How this desk works
An independent desk ranking the top custom shops: the work they do, the materials they use, the cars they build and the standards that separate a real bench from a good photograph.
How shops are judged
Five criteria, weighted equally: quality of finish, materials and brand partners, tuning and coding depth, clientele and reputation, warranty and aftercare. Finish is inspected under shop lighting, not daylight.
What disqualifies a shop
Uncertified film or vinyl, generic flash tunes with no logging, subcontracted work presented as in house, or no answer six months later when something lifts or a map needs a revision.
What we do not publish
We do not invent ratings, reviews, quotes, awards or traffic numbers. A shop we have not visited is listed as pending review, and a region we have not finished is listed as upcoming.
Corrections and submissions
Shop owners and readers can submit a shop, a correction or a build for consideration. Corrections are made on the page itself rather than quietly deleted.
